Children's Bereavement Centre - Christmas 2022

It's that time of year again. We all know the festive season is approaching as the shops become packed with Christmas gift ideas and the seasonal adverts appear on the television. While a happy time for some as we look forward to spending time with family and friends we know it can be difficult for others. So, as a charity that supports local families through difficult times we would like to share with you our plans for Christmas 2022 and the ways you can get involved. We have worked hard to put together a festive programme that includes fun things as well as our annual Candlelight Remembrance Service which is one of our most important  events of the year. This year it's being held at 6.30pm on Thursday December 8th at Newark Parish Church and this special service gives everyone the opportunity to come together, to light a candle and to remember their loved ones. We will be serving hot chocolate and mince pies following the service and would love for you all to join us as this is a free community event and everyone is welcome. There is a special part of the service where the names of loved ones are read out and if you would like to have your loved one's name included please send their name to Julie by before November 30th .  We appreciate times are difficult and we are all being much more careful about where we spend our time and money but you can support the Children's Bereavement Centre in lots of ways, and some don't cost you a single penny! If you are shopping online this year you can use Amazon Smile or Easy Fundraising. This doesn't cost you any extra but we receive a percentage of your purchases, it's as simple as that. You could donate an item for our annual Christmas Hamper Scamper Raffle. We are looking for choccies, alcohol, smellies, food items, gift items or anything you would like to receive in a hamper. To donate an item please just call into the Centre any weekday between 9am and 5pm and ask for Rachel or Katie, or email Katie  For those looking for something festive to enjoy we have a choice of two concerts. The first is a Christmas Comes to Town Concert on Saturday December 3rd at Newark Town Hall. Performed by the Nottingham Symphonic Orchestra you will be treated to an evening packed full of Christmas classics, sure to entertain and delight.  The fun then continues the following week on December 10th at Southwell Minster where the Southwell Lions will entertain you all with music, singing and dancing. It promises to be a great evening guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit. Both events are raising vital funds for the Children's Bereavement Centre and a link to buy tickets and more information can be found below. We hope that there is something here to interest you and that we see you at some point during December. Whether it's coming together at Candlelight to remember our loved ones or to simply enjoy the festive period. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.  Take care, Kate Kate Baxter CEO

Report it! Campaign

The local policing team and the Council are wanting to encourage residents of the Balderton area to report any issues they are experiencing within the village as we have found that some incidents are being reported to the incorrect authority or not reported at all. The council have created a leaflet to help direct your reports to the most appropriate service. By doing this we can ensure that residents are receiving the best service from us and our partners as well as allowing all of us to analyse the statistics for the area and paint a clearer picture of where we need to focus our resources.
